Abstract

Chenopodium ambrosioides L. is an herbaceous species distributed throughout the world and it was described as a medicinal plant and a powerful anthelmintic. The objective of this work was to search for useful characters in the identification of the species using its leaf anatomy. Leaf architecture was determined according Hickey. Transversal cuts of leaf blade and petiole and epidermal peels were mounted in semi-permanent slides with glycerine. Results show that presence of scythe-shaped and bladelike glandular hairs and crystal-sand present in bundle-sheath cells are useful characters for the species identification.
