Ipomoea cairica, Convolvulaceae, antimicrobial activity, cytotoxicity activityAbstract
The ethanol extract, fractions, and isolated compounds from the aerial parts of Ipomoea cairica were investigated for possible antimicrobial and cytotoxic activity. The results showed the inhibition of the growth of Staphylococcus aureus and toxicity to Artemia salina brine shrimp. From the ethanol extract were isolated β-sitosterol 3-O-glycopyranoside (3) and tracheloside (5), which are first reported in this species.
