Dry bean plants, which were grown in greenhouse, were sprayed with neem oil (Azadirachta indica A. de Jussieu) at 0.5, 1.0 and 1.5%, 48, 24 and 2 h before and 24, 48 and 72 h after the inoculation with Colletotrichum lindemuthianum, the causal agent of anthracnose. Tomato plants, under the same conditions, were also sprayed with neem oil at 0.5 and 1.0%, 74, 50, 26 and 2 h before and 24, 30, 48 and 54 h after the inoculation with Alternaria solani. The growth of C. lindemuthianum and A. solani was measured in vitro with different concentrations of neem oil and has shown differences among treatments. The severity of dry bean anthracnose was not affected by neem oil but the severity of tomato early blight was lower when neem was applied at 1% 2 h before the inoculation.
