Lafoensia pacari: evaluation of its healing action on skin wounds surgically induced in Wistar rats

Inflammation is a defense process of injured mesenchymal tissues through a protective response in order to suppress the harmful activity or eliminate the agent involved in aggression. Although can cause, according to its intensity, aggression that contribute to cell damage. In this context, the use of drugs which block the harmful actions of inflammatory response is appropriate for maintenance of the functional equilibrium of inflamed tissues and their subsequent repair by regeneration or healing. Currently, it has increased the interest for research aimed at therapeutic action obtained from medicinal plants. This fact intended to seek compounds that show satisfactory pharmacological activity with lower toxic actions in the body. This study aimed to evaluate the healing action of pomade Lafoensia pacari in injury surgically induced in rats, comparing this activity with the pomade neomycin + bacitracin (Teuto). The methodology used examined and compared the macroscopically action considering the reepithelization and residual wound size from the largest diameter. The results showed statistically significant differences (p<0.05) with respect to tissue repair in the group receiving the pomade of this vegetable, proving a satisfactory effect for this topical pharmacological action.
