The use of several plants with anthelmintic effect has been referred in the literature. The purpose of this experiment was to evaluate the effects of Musa cavendishii Linn. leaves and Carica papaya Linn. seeds on gastrointestinal nematodes of goats. Six different concentrations (mg/mL) for the aqueous extract of Musa cavendishii leaves (130,6; 81,62; 51,01; 31,88; 19,92 e 12,45) and for aqueous extract of Carica papaya seeds (464; 290; 181,25; 113,28; 70,8 e 44,25)) were used to treat feces cultures. Destilled water and doramectin were used to treat cultures considered to be negative and positive control. The results revealed a reduction of more than 95% of the Strongyloidea larvae on the concentration of 130.6 mg/mL for the Musa cavendishii extract and between the concentrations of 464 and 290 mg/mL for the Carica papaya extract. In vivo studies are necessary in order to obtain more information about the anthelmintic action of these extracts.
