Fava-d'anta (Dimorphandra mollis Benth.), a medicinal species of high economic potential is largely explored to furnish the pharmaceutical industry with the flavonoid rutin. In north Minas Gerais, the species constitutes an income source for farm workers, and it is obtained exclusively through extractivism. The present work had the objective of evaluating the risk of genetic erosion of D. mollis towards the proposal of conservation and species handling strategies. The risk factors evaluated were - taxon distribution, fire hazard, pressure of the agricultural activity on the habitat, farming land availability, distance from the largest populational center, the main roads and development projects. Each factor was attributed a weight. The highest the weight, the higher the risk of genetic erosion was. Extractivism, lack of habitat protection and fire hazard are among the greatest risk factors.
