Amburana cearensis, coumarins, phenylpropanoidsAbstract
Extracts from the stem bark of Amburana cearensis (Fabaceae) submitted to silica gel column chromatography were analyzed by GC/EIMS with the objective of identifying their principal constituents. Two compounds (coumarin and trans-methyl-3,4-dimethoxy cinnamate) were isolated and identified by MS, UV and IR spectrophotometry, besides being also injected in GC/EIMS together with their respective standards. Phenolic compounds predominated in the extracts, in particular coumarins (coumarin, dihydrocoumarin and scopoletin). Other phenolics found are phenylpropanoids (e. g. trans-methyl-3,4-dimethoxy cinnamate), benzoic acids (e. g. methyl-3- methoxy-4-hydroxy benzoate), simple phenols (e. g. cathecol and guaiacol) and the anthraquinone chrysophanol. Triterpenoids (e. g. lupeol and amyrins), steroids (e. g. γ-sitosterol), aliphatic esters (e. g. methyl palmitate) and other minor compounds were also detected.
