Micro-molecules of Zanthoxylum stelligerum (Turcz) Roots

This phyto-chemical study of roots of Zanthoxylum stelligerum (Turcz), Rutaceae, permitted the isolation, purification, structural determination of eight substances in the metanolic and hexanic extracts. Using conventional phyto-chemical methods, two types of alkaloids were identified; three furoquinolins (?): skimianin, dictamin, and robustin; and two benzo-phenantridins: N-methyl-hydrocheleritrine, and the product of oxidization of secondary amine, beyond lupeol, -sitosterol; and two phenipropanoids: sesamin and imperatorin. These structures were identified by analyses of spectral data of 1H, 13C NMR, IR, and GC-MS, and comparison with literature reports. This is the first report of the chemical composition of this species.
