Evaluation of Drug Vernonia polyanthes L. - “Assa-Peixe” Obtained Thereafter From Two Methods of Drying and Two Seasons of Harvesting.

It was evaluated the aspects in the quality of drug Vomoma polyanthes L. named as “assa-peixe”, obtained by two methods of drying. The plants analysed were obtained in the two seasons of harvesting (March and August). Plants harvested in March presented the smallest microbiological contamination. Drying plants with prior water washing resulted in smallest microbiological contamination. It was concluded that, washing the plants with waler, as well as the season of harvest influenced the fungi stocks of the drug Vernonia polyanthes L.
