Solidago chilensis Meyen, an Asteraceac, is considered a medicinal plant, used in tradicional medicine in Brazil with vulnerary activities. The aim of this research was to evaluate vegetative propagation using cuttings from different positions of the rizoms. several substrates and numbers of buds in the cuttings. The rizoms cuttings were apical and not apical, with 10 replications. The substrates were sterilized sand, soil from the collecting local and a mix of sand and soil, in (he proportion of 1:2, with 7 replications. The number of buds by cuttings were 3, 6,9 and 12, with 5 replications. All cuttings had 9 cm of length and al about 3 mm of diameter. The apical cuttings had higher dry weight production of leaves, roots and number of roots. The substrates soil from the collecting local and the sand and soil mix showed higher dry weight of roots and number of roots. The cuttings with 12 buds presented higher dry weight of leaves, roots and number of roots.
