The use of medicinal plants in the treatment of diseases is wide around the world, in Brazil due to the difficulty of access to manufactured drugs and cultural issues this practice is very common. Studies are needed for knowledge of species with pharmacological activities and scientific certification species already used are very important. This study aimed to carry out phytochemical screening and evaluation of possible biological activities of Fridericia patellifera plant, for its use in folk medicine and the pharmacological potential of his family (Bignoniaceae), which has many genres with proven biological activity. Phytochemical survey of the species found that the secondary metabolites present in the plant are similar to those found in other species of the genus and family, to which the pharmacological activities are assigned. In the evaluation of biological activity against the S. aureus, S. saprophyticus, E. coli and P. aeruginosa, the methanol extract of F. patellifera inhibited the growth of microorganisms.
